Growing your screen printing business

There are many St. Louis screen printing companies that all of a sudden have an epiphany when they come to the realization that they just simply can’t keep up with demand. This is often referred to as having growing pains. It’s a very good problem to have, but it is certainly a problem nonetheless. When catering to the requirements of the St. Louis T-shirt printing audience, a company has to have balance. No matter how well he can process the finished product, it doesn’t matter if the job is time sensitive and you can’t get it done in time. For every custom T-shirt order that comes in the door, another order has to go out in order to maintain this balance that I am referring to.

Building a successful screen printing and embroidery company is far from easy. It’s a process and it does not happen overnight. Quite a few folks who are trying to break into this competitive market make the mistake of going out and investing in very expensive equipment before they ever sell their very first job. This creates a lot of stress because they are loaded down with a huge overhead and now there’s a great deal of pressure to make ends meet especially at the end of the first month in business when that initial payment is due.

On the other hand I went about it very differently. Instead of going out and spending a huge amount of cash on fancy state-of-the-art equipment that I didn’t need yet, I went out and bought a used four-color manual press and put it in my garage. It certainly wasn’t the fanciest machinery, but it got the job done especially at that point when I didn’t have very many sales. I was able to save a lot of money by not having my own building. I didn’t have any employees neither as my wife and I did most of the work ourselves. Eventually we got some hands-on experience and gradually learned the industry. One thing that worked in our favor was that T-shirts don’t last forever. They eventually wear out and then the fact that we are located in the Midwest certainly was in your favor because of the change of seasons. The same customer who ended up buying short-sleeved shirts from us five months ago now was looking to change over to long sleeve apparel.

I quickly realized that it was much easier to deal with somebody whom I’ve dealt with prior because they’re logo was already archived and all I had to do is pull it in order to use it again. I didn’t have to sell my potential customer on myself because they were already competent in my ability to give them a superior finished product that was provided on time. All I had to do at that point was convince them that we were going to give them the best overall value over our competitors. Sometimes we wouldn’t even have to follow up with them because they would call us.

Now we have access to the very best equipment that’s out there. Give us a call the next time you are looking for a St. Louis digital T-shirt printing company. A digital application is perfect when you have a lot of different colors and you are only wanting to print a small amount at a time.
